IELTS Life Skills B1
Test Format: IELTS Life Skills B1
Total Duration: 22-25 Minutes
The test consists of two main phases — Phase 1 and Phase 2. The objective is to assess your ability to communicate in English on a variety of everyday topics, understand spoken English in different contexts, and engage in longer, more complex conversations than in the A1 level.
Phase 2: Listening and Responding to Information
Part 2a: Listening to a Recording
Duration: 6 minutes
In Phase 2a, you will listen to two recordings. These recordings are longer and more complex than those in the A1 test. They can be conversations, news reports, or other types of spoken content. The examiner will then ask you questions based on the recordings.
After listening to each recording, you will need to answer two or more questions about the content.
Types of Questions in Phase 2a:
Multiple-choice questions: Where you select the correct answer based on what you heard.
Short-answer questions: Providing brief answers to questions based on information in the recording.
Yes/No questions: Responding to whether certain statements are true or false based on the recording.
This section tests your ability to understand detailed spoken English and extract key information from longer audio clips.
